Sara- our new foster dog

Kiah and I headed to Balgonie this past weekend for the dog show.  At the end of our show a new foster dog was dropped off.  Bright Eyes Dog Rescue is based out of Regina and Sara will find her new home through them.  Until then she'll live the life of luxery at our house.

Sara has spent her 8 years of life on the end of a short chain. Unable to reach her dog house and at times food or water.  Angels in her town have insured she has been fed and watered and even spayed.  But until now had been unable to get her owner to surrender her.

Sara is the ready made dog.  For all her tough times in life she is a fabulous house dog.  She is well behaved, house broke, and started on kennel training.  Content to lay by your side and just be petted. She's also happy to romp around with other dogs.

Summer 2010

May 2010
Kiah went down to show with her breeder in the Regina kennel club show.  She took Winners Bitch for 2 points on the Sunday! A huge thank you to Jr handler Ashley Loitz for showing Kiah that weekend for us

Of course we don't just dress up and look pretty- we play.  Kiah LOVES frisbee.  I wish we had a Disc Dog group locally so I could figure out more about it and compete with her.  Of course that would require much better throwing skills on my part!

Kiah barking...I mean smiling for the camera

Jackson- our Danish Farm Dog

June 2010

June was moving month for us.  We packed up left our old house and moved to the hills.  OK not the hills but a small town just outside of Saskatoon.  We've got a slightly bigger yard... a brand new house- and a LOT of building to be done.  the dogs are loving it- the space.  The MUD that they can find.
A big fence built they now have about 1/3 acre to romp on.  The portion will be kept grass for the dogs and not much flowers for them to wreck
July 2010
Brought a new addition to our house hold in the form of a Standard Poodle.  Two years I've watched and waited for a Phantom Standard Puppy.  There are very few breeders of this color.  And even less who are reputable.   Silken's Twilight (aka Bella) is a dream come true.  She is nicer quality structure wise then I expected and has an amazing temperment.  She will be my obedience dog and play flyball as well.
Bella the day she came home (hanging at work here)

We went swimming :)  OK we tried to.  My family and a friends family packed up our dogs, headed up north and visited Dock Dogs in Prince Albert.  We took 8 dogs and ended up with one who would consistently jump into the water.  Although Kiah LOVES the water.  The excitement, (a fair, rides, people, rock music) was a bit much for her.  However she did perfect the art of training a crowd.  She'd run down the ramp and tell people GET MY BALL and voila THEY WOULD!  Such a smart cookie!  We visited dock dogs a couple weeks later in Saskatoon and did get her in the water one time and ended on that.  She's just a pup still and it's about building confidence in new places. Kiah however loves swimming and did a few visits to the lake by our new house this summer and had a blast!
July also saw Kiah going down to the ASCA show in Regina.  Her breeder Kelly showed her and she won both her classes!

August 2010
Yorkton here we come.  Kiah and i went to the Yorkton show staying with friends.  We had a blast and although we came home with no points it was a good weekend and we came home with lots of Best of Opposite Ribbons!  It was good experience for both of us and got us some much needed practice for Nationals.

September 2010- Canadian Nationals
Were held in Saskatoon this year.  So of course we just could not miss it!  Being in the awkward growth stage, got the height but not filled out, and blown coat we went in expecting to have fun and get to see lots of gorgeous dogs. With over 50 Australian shepherds in the show we were extremely happy when she got 2nd in her class!
Hanging out in the benching area at Nationals

What do you do when your not busy showing? well you romp and play of course!  I actually took the time to grab my camera and take some shots of Kiah and Bella (our standard poodle puppy) playing in the back yard.
With so much rain- and not great weather the dogs have not gotten to run and play and romp as much as I'd normally like.  That day was lovely and we spent over 10 hours outside working in the gardens -playing fetch and just being happy family outside.
